TUMBLE SALK. WHAT CAN YOU SPARE ? On Friday next a jumble sale will be held in the Town Hall, under the auspices of the local Patriotic Society, to supplement the local fund in aid of the sick and wounded. In almost every household there is an accumulation of superfluous articles that the owners have no further use for, such as chairs, pictures, glassware, cushions, clothing, cutlery, books, musical instruments, jams, preserves, etc., etc., that can be converted into cash. Some people can’t afford to make a cash donation to the fund, but they can give in kind as above. No gift will I>e considered too small or too large. The gifts will be either called for or may be left at the Hail next Friday morning, where they will be priced and arranged in stalls. The local State school children will provide gifts for two stalls, which will be under the entire supervision of the teachers and children. Produce and vegetables of any description will he thankfully received , The Mayor has already been promised one ton of dressed fibre irom Mr Win. Ross. Now here is an opportunity for other millers (o. follow such a splendid example ! A committee of local gentlemen will be at the Hall on Friday morning to receive gifts, and the following members of the Ladies’ Guild have kindly consented to act as saleswomen during Friday afternoon and evening : Mesdames James Robinson, Harvey, Moore, Signal, Jenks (jnr.), John Robinson, A'. Ross, C. Robinson, Boyes, Grelg, Kirkley, Misses J. Ross and Speirs. Competition will be keen throughout the sale. All goods unsold at 9 p.m. will be submitted to auction and knocked down, "regardless of cost,” to the highest bidder. Bargains will be the order of the day.
