The Manawatu Herald. Tuesday, July 27, 1915. THE RANGIOTU CAMP.
Spi-ciai. trains were pul on between Rangintu and Palmerston on Saturday to convey the men in camp to Palmerston. The men thoroughly enjoyed the outing and their conduct was exemplary. A number of the “Trents” have expressed a wish to visit Foxton and to proceed to the seaside. It remains for Foxton to see whether a special train can be put on once or twice a week to suit the convenience of the men in camp for this purpose. Apart from the special railway trips, we believe the men would appreciate a trek to the seaside. These are mailers which could receive the attention of the recently formed Patriotic Committee, who could submit certain proposals to the camp commandant, which would no doubt receive favourable consideration. The regiment too, has a very fine band. The Foxton public would be delighted to hear it. Probably some arrangement could be made to induce the baud to come here. But these outings, which are of mutual benefit, will not eventuate unless Foxton lakes the Initiative.
