SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The ordinary meeting of the local State School Committee was held on Thursday night. Present : Messrs Hornblow (chairman), Rev Raine, Hussey and Perreau. The chairman reported that he had communicated with the Board’s architect and foreman re certain suggested alterations to improve the lighting and ventilation to the class-room adjoining the new addition. It was probable that this work would be sanctioned, also the erection of the belfry in front of the school. The Chairman's action in procuring metal Irom the Borough Council for filling up holes in the path and gateways was endorsed. This work was ranch appreciated by the head teacher and pupils. Correspondence was read from the Board re the proposed appointment of Miss Mosham as second assistant teacher, vice Miss Bailey, who is being promoted. Miss Moxham is at present first assistant at Bulls D.H.S. Miss Moxham’ s classification is 84. She has passed the Ist section 8.A., and holds a trained teacher’s certificate, has had three years at the Terrace school, Wellington, one year at Apiti, and over two years at Bulls. The Committee considered the qualifications highly satisfactory, and decided to endorse the appointment. It was decided to adjourn the meeting until Monday, August and, when other important matters will be discussed.
