QUEEN CARNIVAL.
CORONATION CEREMONV AT LEVIN. On Friday, July 23rd, the public of Levin and district will have the opportunity, both afternoon and evening, of witnessing the crowning ceremony of the Carnival “Queen” (Miss Kitty Doughty) who was elected by the popular vote of the citizens of Wellington Province at the recent carnival contest in aid of the Wounded Soldiers’ Fund, The Levin committee have made all arrangements with Professor Cardston to have the ceremony on the same scale of magnitude and splendour as carried out in Wellington. All of the nominated queens (fifteen in number) are expected to take part in the crowning ceremony, also the majority of the pages, court officials, etc. Exact 1 " 'he same stage properties that used in Wellington will be utilised for the ceremony in Levin, so that in every way the residents of this district will see the crowning of the “Queen” to the same advantage as the thousands of Wellington residents, and who classified it as the finest ceremony ever witnessed in the Southern Hemisphere. The Century Hall will be transformed into a coronation palace where the ceremony will take place. The afternoon performance will commence at 3 o’clock, when the prices of admission (which have been specially made to give the children an opportunity of witnessing this educational performance) will be is for children and 2s for adults. The evening performance will commence at eight o'clock when the prices of admission will be 3s and 2S. The committee advise everyone to make an early application for their tickets as they anticipate large numbers of visitors from Otaki, Shannon, Foxtou and surrounding districts to attend.
