ODDFELLOWSHIP.
The officers of the Wanganui district paid a visit to the local branch on Thursday evening, when there was a large attendance of members, N.G. Bro. H. Dimaut presiding. After the lodge business had been transacted, P.G.M. Bro. Hope addressed the meeting on district matters of the order, and P.C.S. Bro. Salek spoke on the work of Friendly Societies. In the course of his remarks Bro. Salek said that there were 680 lodges in New Zealand with a membership of 73,691, the total funds amounted to i-;q million pounds of which IVj million was invested, yielding over ,£68,000 in interest annually. The value of lodge property was nearly £200,000, the societies had paid last year to doctors ,£70,000, chemists £20,b00, sick claims £74<7 5 3 a °d funeral £t- ') thus showing the greia .. k the Friendly Societies were doing in New Zealand.
