PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.
At this week’s meeting of the Wanganui Presbytery, the Rev A. Doull read the report of the triennial, visitation of Foxton, and laid on the table the resignation of the minister, Rev J. M. Thomson, M.A. Representatives from Foxton, Glen Oroua and Tiakitahuna were present and expressed regret at losing the services of Mr Thomson. It was resolved (1) That the Presbytery hears with gratification the report of the work being carded on in the Foxton charge under the devoted services of the minister, Rev J. M, Thomson M.A. It recognises the difficulties in carrying on the work of the church over such a wide area, and with roads that make travelling exceedingly difficult at times. It would put on record its sense ol the faithfulness, ability and energy with which the minister is carrying on his difficult work, and the loyalty and attachment to the church of the office bearers and members of the church ; (2) That the Presbytery accepts with regret the resignation of Mr Thomson, to take effect on August 14; (3) That the Rev. A. Doull be appointed interim moderator of Foxton and Shannon, and the Rev G. Budd interim moderator of Bulls and Halcombe ; (4) That the commission to visit Foxton be continued to visit the various congregations and committees of the Foxton charge without delay and make fuller enquiries into the working of the charge and the proposals for its future, to report to next Presby.tery, Mr Doull to be convenor.
