FATAL MOTOR ACCIDENT.
EX-FOXTON RESIDENT kidded. A distressing accident occurred on Tuesday evening, resulting in the death of Mrs C. E. Hosking, who a few years ago resided for some time in Foxton,-and afterwards at Moutoa. It appears that Mr and Mrs Hosking, with their family a lady friend, and MrAilhur Hosking, motore 1 from Palmerston North to Pahiatua earlier in the day, and were returning to Palmerston when the accident occurred. On reaching a point about two miles from Woodville, the party was met by a runaway horse in a spring trap. The animal war. galloping along the road, and Mr Charles Ho-.king, who was driving Hie car, made every effort to avoid a collision. Unfortunately, however, the horse swerved into the car, and Mrs Hosking, who was silting in the hack seat, was struck by a shaft of the trap and lifted bodily out of the car and deposited on the road. Death was instantaneous. The other occupants of the car escaped unscathed, and the car itself was only slightly damaged. The deceased lady was held in the highest respect by a wide circle of friends, whose sympathy will be extended to the bereaved husband and family in their great loss.
