A meeting of the Foxton Harbour Board was held at Palmerston North on Thursday afternoon. Present: Messrs Hennessy (chairman), Jenks, Barber, Nash, Clapham and Ilolbeu. An apology for absence was received from Mr Gardener. The chief business before the Board was the consideration of the suggestion as to the setting up of a Royal Commission to deal with the question of the proposed acquisition of the whaif by the Board. The secretary submitted suggestions in connection with this matter and reported tha amount to credit of the Board at the Bank of New Zealand, including an amount of ,£6OO on fixed deposit at 10s nd.

Mr Nash said the position at present seemed to be at a standstill. The secretary bad made certain suggestions and he thought perhaps the best thing would be to send a deputation to Wellington to interview Mr Weston, solicitor to the Board, and Mr Field M.P., such deputation to have full power to act in any way they think would be advantageous to the Boa-d. The chairman could well represent the Board in this matter. Mr Hennessy suggested that Mr Nash should act with him. The following resolution, proposed by Mr Nash and seconded by Mr Clapham, was then passed : “That the Chairman and the mover be authorised to proceed to Wellington and luteiview Mr Weston, solicitor to the Board, and Mr Field M.P., in reference to the proposals made by the secretary and the letter from Mr Weston re Royal Commission and that they be given full power to act in any way that they think will be advantageous to the Board.” This concluded the business and the meeting terminated.

result OF DEPUTATION. Messrs Ilennessy and N ash visited Wellington yesterday and as a result of their interview with Mr Weston and Mr Field M.P. they decided that the Government be asked to put through a Bill this session empowering the Railway Department to sell the wharf, and allow the price to be paid by the Board to be fixed by arbitration or the question of price he submitted to the Chief Justice for decision.
