A SPORTING OFFER.
FOR THE WOUNDED SOLDIER FUND. £IOO IF FOXTON CAN RAISE Zffioo. Mr Hughes, manager of the Levin branch of the Bank of Australia and Chairman of the Levin Carnival Committee, communicated with us’ yesterday to the effect that an anonymous donor bad handed to him for the Wounded Soldiers Fund on condition that Foxton raised the £IOO to be added to Fox ion’s £SOO. Foxton to have a free hand as to how the £s°° 1° be raised, tbe time limit to be tbe 261 b inst. This generous offer, from an outsider, should stimulate Foxton to accept the challenge. We know there have been some generous donations to the ' - ’-s funds, but no large indiw~..-* amounts have yet been given locally to this fund, excepting the Racing Curb s £[nn, Now here rs an opportunity to show outsiders that Foxtou can make good iu an offer of this kind and we hope in our next issue to be able to say that tbe sum stipulated has been landed. Remember you have not long to make up your mind to raise that and F'oxton can do it !
