CONCERT AT SHANNON.

A very successful conceit and dance was held at Shannon last night, in aid ot the Wounded Soldiers and Red Cross Funds. The affair was organised by Mrs Hall, of Moutoa. This lady has worked untiringly to assist the various fuuds since the outbreak of the war, and her efforts have realised a large sum of money. Her enthusiasm and organising talent, backed by a pleasing personality, has won through with everything she has attempted. Mr Tilling officiated as chairman. Those contributing to the programme were : —Misses Taurvig, Butler, Curron, Smith (Devin), Kempton (Foxton), Dawick 2 (Palmerston), Mesdames Hall and Wills, Messrs Powell, Hornblow, Barr, Barber (Foxton), Merwood, Yates and Tilling. The accompaniments were played by Mrs Butler and Miss Daurvig. A sale of gifts was held, followed by a dance, which taxed the floor space to its utmost. The effort should result in a substantial sum being raised.
