FIRE AT HIMATANGI.

On Tuesday evening Mr Davey’s dwelling at Himatangi was totally destroyed by fire. The outbreak occurred at about 7 o’clock, and the building was soon a mass of flames. The occupants were successful in saving the piano, but beyond this and a very few articles of furniture, the whole of the contents of the dwelling, including practically the whole of the family’s personal effects, were destroyed. The origin of the outbreak is not known, but it is surmised that a burning caudle came in contact with the curtains in one of the rooms, Mr Davey is a heay loser as there was no insurance on the furniture and effects. The dwelling was on leasehold laud, the property of Mr Roore Rangiheuea. It i- ; known whether it was insuieu ui not.
