YOUTH SHOT DEAD.
Wiiangarei, June 5. A shooting fatality occurred yesterday at Mangapai. Thompson Fleming, aged iS, of Whangarei, had shot a cat, and proceeded to pick up the auimal, leaving his double-barrelled gun ou a bank of earth. The gun retained one charge. Deceased beut to pick up the gun, when the undischarged shot hit him in the neck and killed him instantly. It is conjectured that a twig or other obstruction on the bank caught the hammer or trigger of the gun. A sister witnessed the tragedy. Deceased has a brother at the front.
