DR. BARNARDO’S HOMES.
Miss Monks, representing Dr. Barnardo’s Homes, and who is touring New Zealand, delivered a very interesting address to the local State School children on the life of the founder of the institution and matters connected with the Homes, Miss Monks is a delightful speaker aud possesses the knack of holding the close attention of the little ones. Her talk was greatly appreciated and the majority of the scholars decided to join the league at a membership lee of is per year. The president of the Ladies Sewing Guild, Mrs F. Robinson, has kindly arranged for Miss Monks to speak at the Guild next Tuesday afternoon. We can assure the ladies that they can anticipate a real treat. The object of Miss Monks’ visit is not to beg but to stimulate interest in this great humanitarian institution.
