PULLER’S PICTURES.
To-night is the last opportunity to see at the Coronation Theatre the legal historical star picture, “Sixty Years a Q ie;n,” which may be summarised as a brilliant “bovrilised” motion reprodaction. At least ioo notable and absorbingly interesting incidents and events connected with the record reign of the late Queen Victoria. The first screening of this hue film took place last evening before a very large assemblage and the passage of the film across the screen was punctuated with spontaneous rounds of applause. Much additional interest was contributed by the splendidly delivered instructive and humorous lecture by Mr Barrie Marschel, whose patriotic references which served to link the past with the present called forth fervent expressions of approval —“Sixty Years a Queen” should not be missed. For to-morrow and Thursday evenings the management promises another fine coterie of films which will be “star featured” by a Nordlsk special of unusual attractiveness, “The Woman With Red Hair,” which is described as being full of vigor, virility, sensation and true dramatic power. The story is one of those mystifying detective narratives that excites and holds the interest of picture lovers right up to the denouement. A fine supporting programme will include: “Those Country Kids,” a late Keystone comedy ; “Visit to Spain,” scenic ; “A Dog’s Good Deed,” a drama of great pathos; “Jehu Bunny in Disguise,” and the “Last Word in European War News.” Seats may be reserved at Mrs Teviotdale’s.
ROYAL PICTURES. At the Royal to-night the programme screened last night to a very appreciative audience will be repeated. It includes the great American success, “The Wife,” a play unequalled for magnificence of setting and acting. The supporting films are all of a high standard and make up a really lip top programme. The star item to-morrow night is a sensational western drama, “The Angel of Contention.” There will also be screened two other exceptionally fine dramas “In the Blood ” and “ The Love Test,” in addition to scenic, topical and comic subjects. The management have just completed arrangements for the screening of “The War Baby ” (on Thursday) and “ Millionaire Brigand,” “The Indian” “For King and Country,” “The Curse of Greed ” and “ The New Magdalen,” during the month, the exact dates to be announced later.
