HORTICULTURAL SHOW.
Excellent entries have been received for the local Horticultural Society’s Autumn Show which is being held in the Coronation Hall to-day and to-morrow. Compared .villi the last autumn exhibition there are more exhibits on this occasion, and the quality of same, considering climatic conditions, compare favourab'.v with that of exhibits at previous shows. The total number of exhibits is 447, the number in the various classes being : pot plants 31, cut blooms 170, fruit 38, vegetables 93, farm produce 5, dairy produce 2, cookery 60, home industries 17, decorative 24, children’s classes 7The exhibition was formally opened by the Mayor this afternoon. During both evenings various competitions will be held, including sheep-guessing, etc. The amusement committee have arranged a good programme, which includes a number af novel and amusing competitions, and in addition several musical selections will be rendered by Mr Betty’s orchestera.
