OTAKI LICENSING BENCH.

Nominations of candidates for the Otaki Licensing Bench closed with Mr Jeremiah Hurley, returning officer, on Saturday, when only three names were received—namely, Messrs Ben Eiug, Herbert Freeman and J. M. O’Connor. The returning officer has now announced that, owing to a postal error, the nominations of Messrs William Tompsitt and James MoLeavey were not received until yesterday Mr Hurley has forwarded the names to the Chief Electoral Officer for transmission to the Minister for Justice. As the number of candidates does not exceed the number required, au election will not be necessary.
