A DRAMATIC STORY FOR WOMEN.
It is most refreshing to find a magazine nowadays that is not War from cover to cover. Such a magazine is Everylady’s Journal for February. Having treated its readers to a series of extremely interesting and up to date special War Numbers, this sprightly journal contents itself with a page of human incidents from the battle fields, and then produces a big budget of reading matter, bearing strongly on home interests—and romance.
The leading feature in Everylady’s Journal is' the first instalment of a new serial by one of tbe most popular of living women writers —Mary Roberts Rinehart. Tbe title is unusual —merely “K,” and “K,” we learn, is the initial of a mysterious stranger who turns he outset oi chapter 1., ana promts t'- be a most fascinating hero. Some timber romance is j.i-.'.'idtd in the sb-’oe ol short stories, while Charles Barrett contributes a delightful nature study on “The Never-Ending Battle of the Insects,” and Freda Sternberg describes in picturesque terms “The Sailing of the White Ship.” But every practical woman will want this F.vvvylady’s Journal for February for its well filled section devoted to fashions (with the usual free paper patterns), an illustrated article on “How to Make Vegetables and Poultry Pay.” another on “The Art of Making Money out of Silkworms,” and a third explaining how to put the housewife’s business on a sound financial footing. For the needle worker this p- le’font Australian magazine contains illustrated articles on Home-Made Gilts for the Baby, Stencilling, Knitting, and finally, directions by Mary Card for the construction of handsome rose design border for a bed-spread. Altogether this is a valuable and interesting nnr.b.: of the best woman’s magazine ou this side cf tbe world. Eve ylady’s Journal for February is sold locally for sixpence.
