MAN WITH FIFTY WIVES.

ROBBED WEALTHY WOMEN. Probably a new record in polygamy outside of Islam has been made by Karl von Wagner, whom the police of Hoboken and other cities are seeking on charges of marrying, robbing, and deserting women. Four have already lodged charges against him in Hoboken, and a representative German aid society estimates that his other victims number at least fifty. His usual procedure seems to have been to make the acquaintance of women with money through matrimonial advertisements, and after marriage either obtain control of the money outright or “invest” it for the benefit of bis victims. At the lodginghouse from which Wagner fled it is said that hundreds of letters were found.
