ROUNDING UP SHIRKERS.

It has come to the ears of the Defence authorities that a number of young fellows in this district under the age of 25 years have failed to register iu terms of tbe Defence Act, aud have therefore dodged the training required in the territorial force. A careful investigation is being made, and while up to the present skirkers have had the best of the joke, they will find failure to register a greater crime than failure to attend drill, and the joke will therefore be on the side of the law. It is disgraceful to think that while the Empire is passing through such a critical period there are to be found in our midst such “standbacks.” Where is their sense of patriotism ?
