BOWLING.
On the local green on Wednesday next, Rimmer’s rink will defend their right to hold the Dixon Cup, the challengers being a team from the Palmerston North Club, comprised of H, Nash, Young, Tasker and J. A. Nash j(s). With one exception this is the team that recently won the New Zealand championship at Auckland, Young taking the place of Dixon. Mr Dixon is the donor of the cup* and makes a point of not playing in any Dixon Cup matches. A hearty invitation to the green to witness this match is extended to the public. On Thursday evening Ball (n) 33 beat Mandl (n) 26, and Mandl (n) 34 beat Freeman (12) 27, in the Witchell Trophy competition.
