Munro (Lab.) ... 3. 52 5 Majority for Statham rS Absent votes to come ... 224 Seamen’s votes ... 35 A great deal of interest was taken in the Dunedin Central election yesterday. The weather was fine until late la the afternoon, when rain fell for a time. The total number of names on the roll was, 94x5, and 7,668 valid votes were cast, as against 7,399 at the general election in December.
Large crowds congregated in front of the newspaper offices awaiting the results.
The number of absent voles to come is 224, and seamen’s votes 35. Absent voters are scattered all over the Dominion, and probably the result will be indefinite for a few days.
