UON AND DESTROYER DAMAGED,
London, January 26
The Admiralty announces that all the British warships and destroyers concerned in Sunday’s engagement have returned safely to port. The Indomitable towed home the Lion, which was flooded in the forward compartments as the result of a shell striking her below the waterline. The tor-pedo-boat destroyer Liberty also towed home another destroyer, the Meteor, which was disabled. The repairs will not lake long.
The total casualties on the British side were Lion 17 wounded. Tiger 10 killed (1 officer aud y men) and 11 wounded, Meteor 4 killed aud one wounded. Commander Halsey, of H.M.S. New Zealand, in thanking the Hon. T. Mackenzie for New Zealand’s congratulations, telegraphs: “The flag is ready to hoist again.”
