RACING.
FOXTON RACING CLUB’S ANNUAL. THE CONCLUDING DAY. Beautiful weather favoured the above club for Saturday’s racing, when there was a fair attendance, though the totalisator receipts showed a slight falling off as compared with the second day last year, when ,£12,309 was handled. On Saturday last, ,£11,988 passed through the machine, which made a total of ,£26,662 for the meeting, against £27,063 for the 1914 meeting. The management was good, while Mr A. Gordon, stipendiary steward, found cause for complaint on one occasion only, when Man son, rider of Martlet in the Newmarket Handicap, was fined £lO tor not riding bis mount ou. Manson’s explanation was that he mistook the lawn ticket, r-ffic° for the judge’s box, which seemed quite feasible, and it may prove a wise move to transfer the ticket office named to the other ski: of the lawn entrance gate. All the officials worked hard, the secretary, Mr Eadell Wanklyn, being indelatigable iu the execution of bis duties ; the judge, Mr J. R, Whyte, left no room for complaint by his decisions, and though the starter, Mr A. Keith, had some very fractious horses to contend with during the afternoon, which caused much delay at the post on various occasions, the start# throughout were good. No fault could be touud with the catering arrangements under Mr G. Langley, and tba afreruoon tea kiosk was largely patronised. The Foxton Borough Band was again in attendance, enlivening the proceedings with a prograrams of tuneful airs. C. Jenkins gave proof during the race for the President’s Plandicap that he has lost none of his vigour and skill which characterised bis efforts in the saddle in his palmy days, and the reception tendered him when he returned to the birdcage on Victoris was the most hearty and popular ever tendered to a horseman in the Dominion. F. Flynn suffered a bruised arm when Sarbonite fell with him in the Hack Hurdles, but the injury is not serious, and he will be able to complete his engagement to ride Glory at Takapuua on Friday next.
