RACING.
FOXTON CUP DAY. LEAPUKI WINS THE BIG EVENT. Although rain threatened just before midday yesterday, the weather remained fine until just prior to the last event on the Foxton Racing Club’s programme, the going being good, and some fair times being registered. The attendance was well up to the standard, and speculation brisk, the sum of being handled by the totalisator staff, as against ,£14,546 for the same day last ygjuj t Wfr Endell tYanklyn carried out his duties as secretary in a capable manner, while he was ably assisted by a busy band of officials, all of whom worked with a will to ensure success. The Foxton Borough Band enlivened the proceedings with a programme of catchy airs. •Mr A. Gordon, stipendiary steward, was in attendance, as a result of which Adams, rider of Lubriline in the Electric Hack, came in for censure for not riding h s s mount out. Nodder, rider of Chaminade, was questioned about interference wtth Sweet Van during the running ot the Foxton Cup, and was ultimately fined ,£5, and severely cautioned. Although three horses fell during the running of the Hack Hurdles, nothing serious happened to any of the horses or riders concerned. However, an unpleasant incident occurred at the close of the Dash Hack, Waioletta dropping dead after being pulled up, presumably through some internal trouble. C. Jenkins, who rode the winner of the last event, received a great ovation on returning to scale, The veteran certainly rode with all his old skill.
