WHEAT AND FLOUR.
DEALING WITH THE SHORTAGE. The Government has purchased 300 tons of flour from a Northern company for the purpose of supplying flour to those districts where there is the most serious deficiency. These are mostly in the South Island. The distribution will he carried out by the Wheat Board. The first consignment will probably reach Wellington on Wednesday next. As to the 100,000 bushels of wheat on board the Kalapoi at Sydney, which has been the subject of negotiations between the Commonwealth and Ne« Zealand, the Prime Minister informed a Post representative yesterday that all he could say was that he was a little more sanguine t'. ri he was on Saturday,
