Henrys, is to be congratulated on the very excellent adjustments made, which have met with the approval of almost the whole of the owners of the horses nominated. As a result of same, some very interesting racing should be witnessed, and given line weather the Club should have a record meeting. The splendid acceptances have counterbalanced to a large extent the falling-off in the number o! nominations, and good fields are assured for every event. The rain experienced during tin’s week has greatly benefitted the course, which is now in first-class order. All arrangements lor the meeting are well in hand, and as the Foxton gathering is recognised as one ol the best managed country meetings in the Dominion, there will, no doubt, be a very large attendance. Mince the last race meeting, various improvements in the course and appointments have been made, tiie committee leaving no stone unturned to have the appointments as up-to-date as possible. New entrance gates have been erected, and new outside booths erected. Tne various buildings have also received attention where necessary, and the caretaker has given the course proper careful attention, with the result that it is now in lip-lop order. One or two of the horses engaged have already put in an appearance, and from now on each day will see others arrive. Mrs Len. Freeman has again donated a whip for the rider ot the winner of the Foxton Cup. Since taking up her residence in Foxton, Mrs Freeman has each year given a whip for the winner of this race, an act which is much appreciated by the committee. Tenders for the gates and publican’s booth closed yesterday afternoon. Mr J. Wyeth was again the successful tenderer for the gales, his tender being The publican’s booths were purchased by Mr W. Deviue, of Palmerston North, for ,£llO. Scjuaie Deal has accepted for both Foxton and Trentham. Fie will probably come to Foxton and ■will be ridden in the Cup by W. Adams.
