The secretary of the Dunedin Political Labour Representation Committee, Mr R. Breen, telegraphed to the Prime Minister, urging him to exercise the power conferred under section 237 of the Legislature Act and declare Mr Munro’s election for Dunedin Central valid. The Prime Minister has replied stating that he is advised that the matter referred to does not come under section 237 of the Legislature Act. Section 237 of the Legislature Act is as follows '‘Where any accidental or unavoidable impediment, misfeasance, or omission happens, the Goveruor-iu-Council may take such measures as are necessary for removing or recti lying the same ... or may declare any, or all, of the proceedings at or about any election valid, notwithstanding such impediment, misfeasance, or omission.”
