TENNIS.
Each evening players may be seen practising on the local courts and the standard of play is steadily improving. A ladies handicap singles tournament for a trophy donated by Mr A. Fraser, and a men’s singles tournament for Mr Furrie’s trophy are in progress. The first round, just completed, resulted as follows: —

Ladies. Miss Kent-Johnston rec. 5 (40) beat Miss Honore rec. 5 (33), Mrs Moore owe 10 (40) beat Miss Bryant scr. (30), Miss Fraser rec. 8 (40) beat Miss Millar rec. 12 (32), Miss F. Edwards owe 10 (40) beat Miss Walker rec. 12 (37), Miss McKendry rec. 20 (40) beat Miss Mitchell rec. 20 (34).
The following are the drawings for the second round which must be completed by Saturday, Dec. sth: Jackson v. Clark, Furrie v. G. Fraser, Gabites v, L. Bryant, N. Bryant v. Betty, White v. Simmons.
