SUDDEN DEATH.
AT MANAWATU HEADS
The death occurred suddenly from heart failure at the Manawatu Heads at about six o’clock last night of Miss Emmeline George. The deceased was spending a holiday at the Beach. She was -IS years of age and is a sister of Mr A. W. George and Mrs J. Mounsey of Palmerston North. inquest. An inquest was held before the District Coroner, Mr A. hraser, this morning, when the following evidence was taken ; Dr. Mandl stated that he received a telephone message from the Beach and arrived there about 15 minutes after receiving it. He then found life extinct. From the particulars given and the appearance of deceased he had tio hesitation in saying that death was due to heart failure.
Mary Emma Mowlem, wife of Fred. Mowlem, of Palmerston North, said she had known deceased for about 20 years. Shortly after six o’clock last night was talking with her when she was taken ill. She said, “I fear I am going to have a bad turn.” Witness got a wet bandage and put on her forehead, thinking she was going to faint and also got some brandy and water and tried to give it to her, but she seemed to be gone then. Witness got Mr Bailey to ring up for a doctor and he arrived shortly afterwards. She did not know of deceased having any previous attack except oh Wednesday afternoon last when she fell off the sofa but got up by herself and went to bed daring the afternoon. She was up again in the evening. She was bathing on Tuesday and complained of being cold for some time afterwards but later seemed in her usual health. The Coroner returned a verdict that death was due to heart failure.
