HOCKEY.

The school girls competed in the ladies five-aside tournament at Levin yesterday. The deminutiveness of the local youngsters compared with their Levin and Otaki opponents, was amusingly commented upon by the spectators. In the first round Levin defeated Otaki. The local girls also accounted for Otaki and in the final with Levin were defeated. Our girls did not play with the confidence and dash which characterised their play in local competitions. The girls are indebted to Mr Jackson head teacher, and Mr W. E). Barber for motoring them to Levin, and* though defeated, thoroughly enjoyed the outing.
