ROYAL PICTURES.
The programme to be screened at the Royal to-night includes two excellent star films, “The Water Rat,” and “Dena’s Decision.” For to-morrow night that great play, “The Third Degree,” been obtained. Briefly the story
is: Howard Jeffries, a banker’s son, and Robert Underwood are two University students. A telegram reaches Howard from his father telling him to go to New York to meet his step mother, in whom Robert recognises an old sweetheart. Later Robert is expelled for bad conduct, and Howard Jeffries, who married Anne, a waitress, is forbidden his father’s house. Robert obtains a reputation for painting portraits, and his intimacy with Mrs Jeffries is renewed. She, however, finds that his masterpieces are rubbish, and breaks off the acquaintance. Howard Jeffries one night visits Robert’s rooms in an intoxicated state, and Robert places him on a couch where he falls asleep. Mrs Jeffries calls but does not see her step-son. Directly she leaves Robert kills himself and Howard Jeffries is accused of murder and subjected to the terrible ordeal of “The Third Degree.” Finally Howard Jeffries' innocence is proved and he is reconciled with his father. MUNICIPAL PICTURESA more than ordinary attractive programme is being provided tor the Municipal Pictures to-morrow night. The star drama, “Love’s Sunset,” is a powerful Vitagraph picture. Other items are: “Scenesfrom the Works at Longwy,”" scenic; “Pathe’s English Gazette,” 1 topical; “The Tell Tale Star,” 1 drama ; “The Blue Danube,’' scenic; “The Higher Law,” drama; “A Dangerous Case,” comic; “The Film Johnnie,” comic.
