“ONLY ONE SUBMARINE IN ACTION."
Amsterdam, Sept, 24. A message from Berlin states that only one submarine, the U 9, attacked the cruisers. She returned undamaged. None of the wounded sailors landed in Holland are seriously injured. The Allies are relentlessly and gradually pressing the Germans back. The Russians operating m Galicia have captured the fortified position of Jaroslav and have manoeuvred the Austrians into a difficult and perilous position. The German cruiser Emden shelled Madras, on the east coast of India.
