STREET ENCROACHMENT.

Private property encroaching on borough roads and roads encroach iug on private property obtains in certain localities in the borough and in order to get these matters adjusted the Council employed Mr A. J. Patterson to take a survey. , The following letter was read at Monday night's council meeting : Park Street.—l pegged out the eastern building line of Park St, at the corners of the intersecting streets and found that the existing fences are practically on the line. There is an encroachment, however, on Thynne St. of 8.8. links occupied by Mr Rose. The Avenue from Park St. to Bowling Green. —There is an encroachment of 4.15 links at the bowling green corner. Cook St. from Main St. to Johnston St.—A marks the corner at the Johnston St. end, but according to the plan in your office the footpath at Main St. is encroaching on private property by about 14.7 links. I did not peg this corner. Coley St. —I ran the proposed new building line iu Coley St. as directed by you. Mr Cook knows the position of each peg and corner on the whole of the work. Park St. —Was pegged from information received from the survey office and the other from the plans in your office. The Council is taking legal advice as to future action.
