BULB SHOW.
FINE EXHIBITION OF BLOOMS.
It is a pleasure to turn for a brief space from the war of the nations and details of bloody engagements and destruction of human life and the wrecking and devastating of man’s and nature's handiwork to man’s harmonious co-operation with nature in the production ot that which is lovely and peaceful. The local horticultural society hesitated as to whether the Bulb Show should be cut out this year owing to the general unrest, but it was agreed that nature should be allowed to teach its lessons of peace and harmony amidst warring times. A visit to the Town Hall will carry our minds and thoughts for a brief space closer to the works of nature. The blooms on exhibition comprise a magnificent collection despite the fact that the season is somewhat early this year for the best that is grown in the open. The entries in all classes are well filled and compare very favourably with past shows as the comparison will show. The entries total 246 as compared with no in 19x1, 126 in 1912 and 301 in 1913. The entries in the different classes at this show and last year’s exhibition are as follows, last year's being shown in parenthesis : A. 28 (40), B. 42 (39), C.33(69). D. 22 (31).
