METHODIST CHURCH ANNIVERSARY.
The social in connection with the Methodist Church Anniversary was held in the Masonic Hall on Tuesday evening and was a great success. The hall was gaily decorated with bunting, Union Jacks being conspicuous. The chair was occupied by the Rev W. G. Maslin, who, after the singing of “All Hail the Power,” offered up brief prayer. The Chairman, in his opening remarks, referred to the fact of the clouds of war hanging heavily over the nations of the world, and stated that as a church they prayed and trusted that the clouds would soon be dispersed and peace again restored. A long and varied programme was then submitted, the following contributing : Misses Honore, Kempton, Signal and Kelly, and Messrs Barr, Signal, Chrystall, Claris, Collins and Rev Maslin. There was a very original and interesting competition, the winner being Mr Signal. Refreshments were handed round by the ladies of the church. Votes of thanks were passed to all who had in any way helped to make the anniversary such a success. The entertainment, which was of a most enjoyable nature, was brought to a close by the singing of the National Anthem and the pronouncing of the Benediction.
