PARLIAMENT.
No official information is yet available as to the course events will take in Parliament when the work of session is resumed, but it is certain the Government will make a big effort to get back to something like normal working conditions as soon as possible. There is no intention of throwing the session programme overboard, ond while some measures may have to be postponed on account of the war, as much of the projected legislation will be carried through as is practicable in the circumstances. The Education Bill is one of those certain to be passed. On present indications it is unlikely the general election will be postponed. The majority of the members are spending the adjournment period at their homes, but Cabinet Ministers will remain in town. Should an emergency arise Parliament will be called together at short notice. The policy of the State Advances Department in the conditions created by the war has not yet been declared definitely, but the Prime Minister informed a pressman the Government would do what it could and had no intention of closing down altogether 01; advances.
