SAD FATALITY.

Greymouth, August 2.

A sad fatality occurred at Patara on Saturday, whereby a little girl about nine years of lost her life. Her father, Adam Blair, junior, of Stratford, was engaged hauling logs to a saw mill by a '■’■ntive and trucks. The child was amusing herself putting crossed nails on the line to be flattened by the passing trucks. She evidently thought the last truck had passed and stopped to pick up the nails and was struck by the following truck, which passed over her, killing her instantly in front of her mother, who came out of the house at the moment.
