SUDDEN DEATH.
The death occurred suddenly yesterday at Oroua Downs of the infant child of Mr and Mrs A. Smith, and an inq””' 1 ’’ n connection with-same was uOa before Mr Alf. Fraser, District Coroner, this morning. Evidence was given by Dr. Mandl to the effect that he was called to Oroua Downs yesterday morning and on arrival found that the child had been dead some hours. He made a post mortem examination aud found that death was due to pericarditis, hastened by the distended condition of the stomach. Alice Dinah Smith stated that she found the child dead at six o’clock on Friday morning. She had put it to sleep in the pram at n o’clock on Thursday night, and not hearing it on Friday morning went to the pram and found it dead. It was usual for the child to sleep from about eleven o’clock at night until between five and six o’clock in the morning, A verdict was returned in accordance with the medical evidence.
