ENTERTAINMENTS.

MUNICIPAL PICTURES

The programme for Wednesday evening promises to be an ex-

ceptionally good one,

The great

historic drama “ Napoleon “ From his Coronation to St. Helena,” is a picture production of immense educational value. Not only is this film of absorbing historic interest, but it is also one of the most wonderful master-

pieces of kinematography that has ever been produced. In it is de--0 picted the whole of the Little Corporal’s career, from the Coronation to the last days at St, Helena. Included In the film are graphic sketches of most of the history-making episodes with which the world is familiar. Amongst the battles depicted is that of Austerlitz, in which Napoleon captured 192 Austrian standards, 400 guns, and 20,000 prisoners. Then there is the Russian campaign, and that terrible retreat from Moscow, which was the beginning of his

downfall. In one of the scenes the Mamulukes figure very prominently, and mon beautiful of all is the Coronation scene, in which it will be remembered Napoleon snatched the crown from the hands of the Papal legate and placed it himself upon his head. The Cadoudal episode is graphically depicted, as is also the abdic-

tion of Fontainebleau. Most touch-

ing of all is the scene in which the Old Guard at Fontainebleau salutes

its heroic chief. The picture shows the deportation to, and ends with the death of Napoleon at St. Helena, where he breathed his last surrounded by those of the faithful followers who had accompanied him into exile. The other drama, “The Message of the Sun Dial,” is a truly delightful and enjoyable picture by the Edison Co. “White Wings at Wellington,” and “Pathe’s Gazette,” will be found most interesting. “Some Golden Flowers,” is a very pretty coloured film by the Pathe Co. The comics are, “The Medicine Show at Stone Gulch,” and “The Elusive Kiss.” The former is a side splitting Western comedy, while the latter is full of fun from start to finish.
