The JB’s journeyed to Shannon, and suffered defeat by six goals to one. The game, however, was far more even than the score indicates. The B’s, like the A’s, suffered from inability to shoot straight, many of their shots going just outside the posts. Evidently Foxton had an off day yesterday, for the ladies were defeated by Levin two to nil. This is the ladies’ best performance so far. They, too, like the men’s teams, suffered from “crookeditis” when in the circle. This dreadful complaint is very prevalent amongst the A forwards, and seems quite incurable. If the affected parts are treated with practice two or three times a week, however, the malady rapidly disappears. As the season advances, keener public interest is being evinced in hockey, and the spectators, including a large proportion of the fair sex, asssmble at the matches. It has absolutely killed Rugby locally. Mr Esther controlled the local game yesterday, and his decisions gave general satisfaction.
