Bates wires today as follows: — The indications are for southerly weather, squally at times, and backing by south to west, after about 34 hours, then freshening to gale, for a storm appears to be approaching from the west ; the weather will probably prove cold and showery; meanwhile, barometer rising, but falling after about 24 to 36 hours ; sea heavy, tides good..
