LIVED IN THREE CENTURIES.
The oldest Welshman in the world is Mr Thomas Morris, who lives at Westernville, Nebraska. Although he is now an American citizen, he was born a subject of George 111., at the little village of Berriew, Montgomeryshire, on January :sth, 1794- He is therefore iso years old. His father was an agricultural labourer, and died when the boy was three years old. Morris was appren ,i ed to a cobbler, and followed his trade in Britain until 1871, when, the age of 77, he emigrated to America. The old mon ; s very proud of the fact that he ' s lived in three centuries. He remembers the union of Great Britain and Ireland, the assassinate, of President I ‘■"co! ri , and tl ;• laying of the first Atlantic cable. Morris can still walk with the aid of a stick, and see with the aid of spe-tacles, which he first purchased after passing his hundredth birthday. His hearing is good, am* he enjoys a cup of tea or co-fee with each meal.
