THE BOROUGH BAND.

At last night’s Council meeting a letter was read from the Secretary of the Borough Band, stating that the members could not agree to accept the terms offered by the Council, but were willing to accept a subsidy of per annum and to play outside the Municipal Hall on two Saturday nights in each month.

It was decided on the motion of Cr Read, seconded by Cr Henderson, that the Council regret they cannot accept the Band’s offer for a two nights’ per month service, but will agree to three Saturday nights per month at per annum and to the other conditions contained in the secretary’s letter. If the offer is accepted a proper agreement be drawn up and signed by both parties.
