HOCKEY.

The local school girls defeated the “old girls” in Perreau’s paddock yesterday by 3 to nil. Stella Barber scored two goals and Dulcie Hawke one. Mr Parlane refereed.

Yesterday the Foxton Club sent a team to Palmerston to try conclusions with the Technical School senior hockey team. The match was played on the High School ground, and after a fast and keenly fought game, resulted in a win for the home team by 3to 1. Woodroofe scored for Foxton and Liddell (2), and Aitchison for the Tech. The game was very even, and it was only the superior combination of the Palmerston forwards that gave the advantage. Both goal-keepers bad plenty ot work to do, the Tech, custodian in particular stopping some very hot shots. Cecil Robinson played like an International, and frequently pulled his side out of danger. Before and after the match the visitors were most hospitably entertained at Dustin’s. In tact the Technical boys did all in their power to make the visit a throughly enjoyable one, with the result that those who had the pleasure of participating in the trip are eager for another at the first opportunity.
