TO CORRESPONDENTS.
(To the Editor)
Annoyed,—The complaint you make has already been referred to the Postmaster.
Sir. —We have heard a good deal from time to time about supporting local industry, but the thing is almost a dead letter so far as the Foxton public is concerned. There have been a few presentations lately and I am informed that the articles were purchased outside the town. Cannot the local business people treat as well as outsiders or are they a set of takedowns. I don’t know how it affects your business, Mr Editor, but I think such dealings are most unfair and unpatriotic. The money for these presentations and the like come from the local public and is sent out of the town. No wonder we are looked upon as an unenlightened community. Other things being equal I tbink our local business people should receive first consideration and failing a satisfactory deal then go elsewhere, but not before. Perhaps we could import a few outsiders to fill positions now occupied by these men who are so fond of sending Foxton’s good money out of the town instead of circulating it locally. Thanking you in anticipation.—l am, etc., A Fair Deai,.
