HUNTER FOUND GUII/TY.

Wellington, May iS

The re-trial of Edward Hunter, charged with having on 14th December used seditious language during a speech at Newtown Park on the occasion of the strike demonstration was concluded at the Supreme Court this evening before Mr Justice Hosking and a jury of twelve. It was alleged in the indictment that Hunter invited the Government to bring down the specials to the West Coast and the strikers would place man for man up to 1000 alongside them and further that he stated if they wanted a revolution they could get it. . The jury returned a verdict of guilty with a recommendation to mercy on the ground that at the time the offence was committed his feelings had run away with him. Sentence was deferred till Wednesday.
