THE FOXTON WHARF.

CONFERENCE NEXT MONTH.

At Tuesday’s meeting of the Foxton Harbour Board, it was decided to convene a conference of delegates from local bodies and chambers of commerce with a view to arranging a representative deputation to wait on the Prime Minister and Ministers for Railways and Marine, in connection with the acquisition of the Foxton wharf. The following letter has beensent by ths secretary of the Board to all the local bodies and Chambers of Commerce in the district: ‘‘ Re the control of the Foxton Wharf: At a meeting of this Board on the 12th instant, a resolution was passed that local bodies and chambers of commerce in the Board district should be asked to again appoint two delegates each, to meet with the Board at Palmerston North during the first week in June (say Thursday the 4th.) to further discuss the position, and with a view of a fully representative deputation being arranged to meet the Premier and Ministers for Railways and Marine at Wellington the following week if possible. Members of Parliament representing the district will be asked to attend. The Board solicits your fullest co-operation in this matter, and upon receipt of reply your delegates will be notified ot date and time of meeting.”
