PICTURE PROFITS.

TO BE PAID OFF DOAN

At last night’s Council meeting it was moved by the Mayor, and seconded by Cr Coley, that the Council pay to the Public Trustee off the Town Hall loan, out of profits during the past year. The Mayor said he was sorry the profits were not bigger, so that a larger amount could be paid off. He was of opinion that while the pictures were paying they should reduce the loan as far as possible so that in the future the interest charges would not be so large. Unfortunately, during the past year they had had to pay in legal expenses in furtherance ot their right to conduct picture entertainments, otherwise they would have been able to pay off the loan. Cr Speirs also spoke in support of the motion, which was carried.
