HOSPITALITY REWARDED.

GIRL, SCARES AWAY BURGLAR. Thk stationuiaster in an American country town discovered recently that an act of hospitality of the night before had prevented the company’s safe irom being looted. A thirteen-year-old girl who had tmased her train and been allowed to remain all night iu the station, had frightened away a man who had tried to force a window. Only the change from a telephone-slot machine was missing. The girl arrived iu the town to seek work. She applied at several places, but was unsuccessful. She then decided to return home. When she reached the station, however, she found that the last train had gone, She secured permission to lodge in the station. She soon went to sleep in a corner, and knew nothing until she was awakened by the noise of a man proving about the room. At his attempt to force the door of the agent’s office she screamed. The intruder warned her to keep quiet. Then she began to cry, and her sobbing became so violent that the robber, fearing that he would be discovered, departed.
