ARRIVAL OF SIR iAN HAMILTON.

Invercargill, April 27. General Sir lan Hamilton arrived at the Bluff by the Moeraki this morning and was met by General Godley and the Mayor of Bluff. After an inspection of the body guard Sir lan Hamilton said this was the first time he had come into contact with the New Zealand troops since the war in South Africa, where they rendered distinguished service and as a Colonel who had served in the Gordon Highlanders all his life and who was now a Colonel in the Camerons, he was very pleased to see the tartan. He felt there was a likeness to the old Country when he looked upon tartans, and the cut of the men comprising the body-guard. The party reached town at eleven, and an inspection of the cadets is now being held in the showgrounds. The weather is fine and there is a splendid turn-out.
